One very important message we want to convey is that backgammon is for everyone. I’ve certainly seen it at local clubs where I’ve met an incredible variety of people; at national tournaments it’s great to see the same. However, as you move up into the international level you notice the representation of women decreases, and at international team level there’s very little if any. This is obviously undesirable – unlike physical sports there’s no intrinsic reason why we shouldn’t hope for a more balanced scene. Should something be done to redress the balance?
Worldwide Trophy 2017
Until recently, there have been few successes on the world stage for UK players and teams.
That all changed with Gaz Owen, Raj Jansari and Chris Rogers winning major overseas events and the UK capturing the inaugural Worldwide Trophy in Tbilisi, Georgia last year & being runners up in the European Team event in Copenhagen.

Team UK’s selections for Georgia
It’s only six weeks to go until the 2017 Worldwide Trophy in Tblisi, Georgia, and we’re delighted to announce we have two strong teams heading out to defend the title of Worldwide Team Champions.
