Since the implementation of BMAB three years ago, Mochy has maintained an incredible level of play, never letting his PR average fall below 2.90. More recently he has pushed his performance rating to reach an astonishing level of 2.40 measured over 300 experience points, not only achieving the title of Super Grandmaster, but with a clear margin of 0.10 below the 2.50 benchmark.

TOURNAMENT REPORT PART 1: WINNERS & TROPHIES
Twenty players participated in the opening event in the 2016 BMAB (UK) Season, which comprises six tournaments all at the same venue near East Midlands Airport. This tournament was kindly sponsored by Dale Taylor who donated monies towards trophies, certificates and added prize money. Dale and Lawrence Powell were awarded with special “300 Club” loyalty badges to commemorate their participation in five tournaments, thus achieving over 300 experience points. They join Peter Bennet, Tim Cross, Julian Fetterlein and Tariq Siddiqi who have already joined the club.

Julian Fetterlein & Gaz Owen receive BMAB Grandmaster awards
It has been announced this morning by the Backgammon Masters Awarding Body (BMAB) that Julian Fetterlein and Gaz Owen have both been awarded Grandmaster titles by virtue of their excellent performances in BMAB (UK) tournaments over the last 12 months. They are the first British players to receive this award.
At the most recent BMAB ranking tournament at Castle Donington, near Nottingham, over the weekend of 27-28 February 2016, Gaz won the PR Prize with an astonishing performance of 3.14 averaged over six 11 point matches, which emulated Julian’s similarly astonishing performance a few months ago. This time Julian was the PR runner-up with a tournament average of 3.74. They can be seen in the photo below playing each other at this tournament.
Tournament report: BMS(UK) #6
BMS (UK) Ranking Tournament #6 – Castle Donington, 5-6 December 2015
I have great pleasure in reporting that the sixth Backgammon Masters Series (UK) Ranking Tournament held on the weekend of 5-6 December was a splendid success, and would like to acknowledge my appreciation to Dexter and Paul Gilbertson for their kind sponsorship of the event. 24 players participated in the usual format of a truncated round robin comprising six rounds of 11 point matches. Altogether 72 matches were played under normal clock settings with each match videoed by webcams.
