On behalf of the UKBGF I offer a huge thanks and of course congratulations to Martin Barkwill on having served with great success as UK Team Captain for 2020-2021, a mantle now taken on by Chris Rogers for 2022-2023.
Since early autumn last year, the establishment of an online ratings list has seen more than 20,000 matches entered!
However, face-to-face play is now possible and well underway across the UK, and the live ratings list is once again receiving results from clubs new and old, as well as larger events such as regional or national open tournaments.
The UKBGF Board and Tour Subcommittee are very pleased to launch the 2022 UKBGF Tour!

The UK Open is the UK Backgammon Federation’s flagship event in the annual calendar of tournaments across the country. The first UK Open, organised by the UKBGF, was held in September 2014 at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry, and the 137 attendees that year included the top two players in the world and the reigning world champion (Mochy, Michy, and Akiko). Every year since 2014 (except for 2020 when it was forced to move online due to the pandemic), the UK Open has been a large, live, multi-flight tournament attracting international players, sponsorship, and some of the best prizes on the UKBGF Tour.
We are now looking for the right team to run this prestigious tournament in 2022. Could this be you? Or do you at least know of a potentially fantastic and great value for money venue where the event could be hosted? Let us know in either case.

Despite the loss of live play, and one of our hosts being stranded in Spain (!) the UK backgammon season’s traditional end of year event managed to still take place online as planned.
